Question
Are certain professions or circumstances within the professions exempt from being ethically judged? Examples: (1) military leaders who are planning sneak attacks that intended to kill scores or hundreds of people; (2) the football player who knows he stepped out of bounds on the winning run, even though the referee didn’t call him out of bounds; or (3) a police officer who pursues a high-speed driver through city streets, thus placing innocent drivers and pedestrians in harm’s way. (In a 150 words or more please).
Explanation / Answer
I would like to answer those 3 examples in detail.
In the first example, there is something called work and country's pride which comes before anything. Even though he is planning for sneak attacks it is for greater good by saving country or eliminating terrorism.
In the second example again same thing come into picture, where the game is for teams pride, here the player goes to any extent in winning the game for his team. And the winning overthrows all the unethical other things into shadows.
In the third example police as a part do his work needed to do justice in stopping him, or else he ll be a greater damage to the society.
In all the three exanples, there is a line for ethical reason one questions for oneself and feels there is a reason to break it for greater good
