Based on your reading of the textbook and any earlier material you have come across, compile a set of usability and user experience goals that you think will be most relevant in evaluating the device. Decide which are the most important ones and explain why Translate each of your sets of usability and user experience goals into two or three specific questions. Then use them to assess how well your design measures up. 4.Explanation / Answer
I choose remote control for a smart TV as an everyday handheld object and lets examine how it has been designed paying particular attention to have the user is meant to interact with it.
A)First Impressions: Simple to use. But if remote is large it is impossible to handle it with one hand. So, logically related buttons are grouped into a cluster such as buttons for changing volume and channels, some buttons are physically raised to feel them. Small text on the buttons is not clear or unexplained. Buttons for emergency situations are placed at placed where they can be easily reached (at front or at the end). For some remotes, there is no sense of grip , no balance to device when placed on surface and sometimes IR sensor does not blink.
B) Description of user experience resulting from interacting with it- user should pay attention to press the right button, unresponsive sometimes, requires other hand to reach some buttons, poor build quality(easily broken), no feedback from device, because of its slimness and lack of grip easy to lose and slip in between sofa or bed.
