Summary:

Kannabi was a brave, cunning and powerful warrior who won in many battles. Previously other warriors too came for getting advice from Kannabi. Everyone obeyed him. One day he saw some childeren hearing stories from a Knowledge holder. Eventhough women heard that story many times, they too were listening it with very keen. Kannabi also thought that they to look at him the way they looked at the knowledgeholder. while hearing stories. He was in hurry to learn stories to impress others. So he asked the story teller to teach him the stories. According to the knowledgeolder's word, he went to highest hill to see the storyteller.

Impatient Kannabi forced the old woman, the story teller to teach him the stories. But old woman carried out her works even Kannabi showed his impatience. She enquired about why he still need stories if he heard it in childhood. But Kannabi not remembering those stories. When old woman said that he has to pass a difficult test for getting stories from her, Kannabi showed his overconfidence. The task is to find a flat rock with a hole near the joining point of a river and Great river and he have to return there and should say what is in its hole. After Kannabi returned and said about that he found an empty hole there, old woman told him to fill the hole with water. Impatient Kannabi got annoyed and he went for filling hole with water.

After a great effort he filled it with water and returned the next day. As per old woman's next instrction, he travelled throughout This Land for weeks to collect the dung of all creatures that lived here and have to take it back to the flat rock where the warrior put it in a circle around the hole. Manytimes he had to fill the hole with water before going out and collecting enough dung. Again many tasks were given by old woman to the warrior.

After 2 weeks, he rememberd the question of old woman that whether he remember the stories told by his mother or aunts. But now he remember only pieces of story he started to think about the morals of the stories told by them in his childhood. But he could recollect. Later he got mad when all the tasks done by him got wasted.

Moral of the story:

Kannabi though he is the most powerful, most cunning and strongest warrior than others. But a poor old woman proved him wrong. Her wealth is the stories she heard at her childhood. She also learned morals of every stories she learned. But warrior Kannabi cannot even recollect the stories. He only needed the fame and recognition. Also this story tells that mental power is more powerful than physical power.
