Question
This year the CSR planning team, of which you are a member, worked with the local United Way to survey allthe nonprofits and local elected officials in the community toidentify the community’s most pressing needs. The three top issues identified were funding for the food pantry, declining youth physical fitness, and overpopulation at the local animal shelters. The CSR planning team then surveyed all ofcompany’s employees to determine which of the three issues were most strongly embraced by the company. The employees expressed equal amounts of interest in all three issues. In order to evaluate which of the three issues the company could best address inits community projects over the next year, the CSR team decided to create preliminary plans for projects that would address each one.

Explanation / Answer
A Community Dog Wash organized by Thunder Sports
Need Identification: Every pet owner wishes to have a clean pet and with majority of the pets being dogs, the tendency of them getting dirty playing around in the locality is very high. Hence, owners want to have them cleaned up for hygiene as well as aesthetics reasons. The regular groomers are mostly expensive and the prospect of having the dog given a full bath at home itself is pretty difficult and often impractical. This is where Thunder Sports can fulfill a community need and bring happiness in the community they thrive.
Concept: A dog washing event is often a fun and engaging activity, however it has some specific infrastructure and natural weather requirements.
Infrastructure Requirements -
· The best time to conduct this activity is during the summer as it becomes a great activity for the entire family
· We need a suitable location that has enough room to accommodate at least 4-5 parallel washes.
· Arrangement for hot or lukewarm water for the dogs to get comfortable in. Dogs generally have a body temperature higher than that of humans and any water which seems cold to us would be freezing for them.
· Dog Shampoo can be purchased in bulk, with some water hoses, tubs could be optional if we have non-slippery mats for the dogs and owners to stand on.
· Some additional leashes, for the dogs not being washed. With so many dogs around, often safety becomes a concern.
· Some bowls of water for the dogs to drink from, with some treats and biscuits for the dogs to enjoy.
· Some old and fresh towels for the dogs to dry would also be needed, to keep them in good health and also not let the wet dogs ruin the interiors of the car owners’ cars.
· Some big umbrellas to provide some shade to the owners as well as the dogs
· Additionally, we can have a refreshment stall set up for the owners to grab a bite in between the washing cycles.
This event would be a quick, free and convenient option for washing dogs, something which dog owners would desire a lot. In addition, it would be a great community event for different pet owners to get together and have a good time outside.
For some more interesting features, we can additionally add the services of grooming, massage and nail cutting through a professional. This would provide a full-on pet grooming session, much to the delight of the owners.
Marketing the Event: Some major marketing activities can be planned around the event to send the communication through to the neighborhood.
· Eye-catching pamphlets can be created and distributed around at the local convenience stores with complete information about the date, time and the company organizing such an event.
· Announcement at the local radio. Most owners follow the radio and would hear about such an event taking place in the neighborhood.
· Communication to all Employees, all employees to be informed through direct emails and should be asked to spread the word through Word-of-mouth. This most often turns out to be the most effective communication as employees inform their friends and family about such an event taking place.
