Question

alice is the webmaster for a small website2 whose files are contained under ~/WWW. The website is expanding, and now a few people will maintain the site. The system administrator created a group, webadmin, containing users (currently, alice and chuck) who should be able to modify the website. Adjust the permissions for ~/WWW and everything contained in it, so that:

-File owner permissions are unchanged.

- Anyone in group webadmin can change into, and can create, delete, and list items in, ~/WWW or any of its subdirectories.

Explanation / Answer

To keep file owner to be the root admin run the following command

chown root:webadmin ~/WWW

Anyone in group webadmin can change into, and can create, delete, and list items in, ~/WWW or any of its subdirectories

chmod -R g+rw ~/WWW
