September 13, 2018 500 AM EDT-Thursday, September 20, 2018 11:59 pM EDT. EDT Please address the following question. Management practices have changed over the years. Today most firms think about Six Sigma or lean as an appropriate process improvement focus. From a process improvement standpoint what do you feel might be the next industry focus? Please respond to other's posts or start a thread on material from Chapter 6

Explanation / Answer

Firstly, nobody has mastered Lean and Six Sigma so that they can move on to the next level (if they think they need to). They are still making mistakes and trying to improve on it.

Secondly, best sustainable improvment organizations view improvement as important as any other function such as Sales, Operations, Marketing etc. There is no next step beyond that. It is a continuous process. They view Lean and Six Sigma as enablers of improvement not the end all, cure all program. There will always be a change in strategy and process but enablers tend to remain the same. It's just that with Lean and Six Sigma, improvement has been given a structure.
