there are many tools and scales used in engineering and manufacturing firms. some of they are:
among the above, I want to discuss about Control Charts:
X double chart and R chart: This chart is useful to identify the quality for variables, where the average defects rate will be given, and the with help of R chart the quality can be read.
P chart and C chart: these are useful to measure the quality of attributes of the products, based on the per centage of defects, the producer can decide proceed with the production or not.
These four kinds of tools can be used to measure the quality aspects of variables and attributes. For example if a fridge is having a small scratch can be considered for selling, as second hand product, but the soft drink bottle which has leak can not be sell at lesser price.
These charts can be used right from the material inspection to the preparation of end product. Because the quality of a product depends on every stage of the production process.
