IPv6 was introduced in 1998 to overcome many of the shortcomings inherent to IPv4. Today, almost twenty years later, the vast majority of network installations continue to primarily rely upon IPv4, in spite of many industry experts urging that the world must eventually make the switch. Why has there been such resistance to transitioning from IPv4 to IPv6? What has been the experience of organizations that have experimented with or begun using IPv6? Has your company (past or present) done anything with IPv6? If you were in charge of your company's IT department, what would be your position on whether and/or when to make the switch?

WHY THE TRANSFER IS SLOW.

Just because of something is new and udateed doesn't mean you have to use it.

At the core both IPv4 and IPv6 are just the same , IPv6 is just bigger space for living , that's it , nothing more nothing less.So the bigger space mean more computers can live and talk on the internet and that's indirectly relates to scaling.But still the computer's that have a IP address on IPv4 work absolutely fine and the cost and labour of transferring the old computers is much much more than the output gained.So people who are current on then internet feel no need to make a switch to version 6. The experience of the organizations that are using or have started using IPv6 has been good as there is relatively much less traffic in that region and so the process of finding direction's in much easier.

Yes over company has an experience of working with IPv6 , when we set up our new office , last year we moved all the new hardware over there to IPv6.As the head of IT Department , I will follow the same trend to online make a Switch to IPv6 when there is a brand new installation of the hardware and leaving the old hardware as the switch is not much fruit full to the company but in case of new hardware its a good idea to go for IPv6 as sooner or later , we all have to make that switch as the space is running out really quickly and its good to have a modern technology working with best support.
