So I have watched the lectures and looked in the books. I cannot find the answers to these questions. Please help me out with this.

1) One of the most important characteristics of a system is compatibility, explain how with that
affect system performance from a component point of view and from a system point of view.

3) In Networking we often hear the terms LAN and MAN network systems, what are the main

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LAN NETWORK SYSTEM & MAN NETWORK SYSTEM -

Computers and other devices use a LAN connection to share resources such as printer or network storage media.

Characterstic LAN    MAN Definition A Local Area Network(LAN) is a group of interconnected computers and devices that uses the same communication line or are linked with the servers wirelessly. A metropolitan area network (MAN) is a network that interconnects users with computer resources in a geographic area or region larger than that covered by even a large local area network (LAN) but smaller than the area covered by a wide area network (WAN). Area of Network These type of network generally covers a very small area such a building or an office. If only two computers are connected, it is called a LAN. MAN covers an area which is more than the area covered by a LAN and less than covered by a WAN. Required Components By being small in size, they need cables, switches, routers and other components that let users connect to internal servers, websites and other LANs A recent trend is in place i.e. Wireless MAN's which are connected through servers and other peripherals. Old MAN's require a very extreme harware and software support along with big servers and more cables. Cost & Implementation As they require low hardware and software support, the cost here is very low therefore implmentation is very easy.Maintainence cost is also low. This requires very high end budget and therefore very strong hardware and software support so, the overall cost is very high. It is also very complex to establish a MAN, and the maintainence cost is very high too. Area Of Application It is used is offices, shops, for playing games etc. It is used in very large industries, companies, hospitals and universities.
