Explanation / Answer

a) Ans:- Whistle blower is a person who highlights the misconduct happending in a company or any organisation. Let us take an example of Quest diagnostic case which was highlighted in 2009. Nichols Institute Diagnostics Inc., which was the subsidiary of Quest diagnostic Inc., was charged with selling faulty blood test kits to medical testing companies. The company was asked to pay $302 million to the medical testing companies.

b). The companies can encourage ethical behaviors by following means:-

1. The company should include ethical practices in it's mission and vision statement. This would always inspire the management to take ethical decisions.

2. The company should have no tolerance policy towards any unethical behaviour. It should set an example by punishing any unethical behaviour found in the company.

3. The company should also hire employees after background check and encourage partnership with ethical suppliers and distributors.

4. The company should maintain alsolute integrity in business and come clean in regulatory audits.
