2. How does the change in kinetic energy of the cart compare to the work done by the tension force for each run? Compute the percent difference for each case

Change in KE of cart = 1/2*m*vf^2 - 1/2*m*vo^2

= 1/2*m*(vf^2 - vo^2)


For case1 :

Change in KE = 1/2*1.2247*(0.5589^2 - 0.6951^2) = -0.1046 J


For case 2:

Change in KE = 1/2*1.2247*(0.66^2 - 0.026^2) = 0.2663 J


For case 3:

Change in KE = 1/2*1.2247*(0.74^2 - 0.0579^2) = 0.3333 J


For case 4:

Change in KE = 1/2*1.2247*(0.844^2 - 0.075^2) = 0.4328 J


Work done by tension force = mg*(xf - xo)


For case 1:

Work done by tension force = 1.2247*9.81*(0.433 - 0.011) = 5.07 J


For case 2:

Work done by tension force = 1.2247*9.81*(0.44 - 0.011) = 5.1541 J


For case 3:

Work done by tension force = 1.2247*9.81*(0.361 - -0.017) = 4.5414 J
