Question
a tennis player hits a ball at ground level, giving it an initial velocity of 24m/s at 57 degree above horizontal.
a) what are the horizontal and vertical component of the balls inital velocity.?
for this i know since its horizontal and the angles is at positive x-axis
so for Vox i use Vo(cos58) =13.07 m/s
but for Voy wouldnt it be Vo(sin90)? because the question angle 57 is at x-axis so for y-axis there would be no angle ???????
i dont get it why the solution manul say Vo(sin58) because 58 is above the horizontal...
Explanation / Answer
Voy is Vo(sin58) as in coordinate axis the vertical angle made by V is (90-58). instead of using Vo(cos32) its using Vo(sin58) as sin58 =cos32.
