1. Efficency can be described as a measure of how well or productively resources are used to achive an organizational goal. efficency can be increased by minimizing inputs needed to achieve desired outputs. efficency is ability to accomplish the job with minimum time and effort.

Effectiveness is simply being able to adequetly accomplish a job. it is a measures of the appropriateness of the goals chosen and the degree to which they are achieved. organizations are more effective when managers choose appropriate goals and then achieve them.

I would have to say military, whether it be army, marines, navy or whatever branch . all US military organization are extremly efficent and effective.

2. Following are the way through which managers at each level of management should contribute to organizational efficency and effectiveness------

1. Top-level managers can develop plans to make the organization more efficent and effective.

2. Middle level manager can improve on the plans top level has developed.

3. Frontline manager can implement the plans and report any sustainments or improvements.

3. Following are the reason--------

1. Managers of high performing organization interact with and motivate their employees. while the manager at low performing organizations are aloof, who are not interested in interaction with their employee and neither motivate them.

2. managers in high performing organization set difficult but achivable task, while manager at low performing do not set any goal .

3. In high performing organization bonuses are tied up with the performance of the company, while in low performing organization bonuses are not connected with the performance at all.

4. In high perfoming organizations managers can delegate the authority to his employees and in low performing organizations managers may not effectively delegate authority or hold employee responsible for particular task.

5. Manangers in high performing organizations kow how to develop relationship with in the organization but in the case of low performing organizations managers are ineffective to perform the same.

Obtaining competative advantage is important for the managers because higher quality goods are produced when competing with other companies and well as reaching customer satisfaction. when the company are competing with some other organization then they are able to provide same goods and services at low price.

5. The role of manager in todays world are quite different from the past . many new challenges are faced by the managers like change in the workforce, the environment and organization culture.

One of the most intriguing challenge concerns the human resources in the organization. the workforce is becoming increasingly diverse in terms of age, gender, race, religion and socioeconomic background. managers must find a way to treat people fairly. while at the same time effectively utilizing the different perspective and contribution that a diversified workforce offer. managers have been forced to comply with legislation .

In addition to diversity, manager must now learn t compete on increasingly global scale. the breakdown of barriers between formerly distinct economies has forced companies to improve performance in order to compete sucessfully with companies around the world. manager can learn to keep their competative advantage by achieving superior efficency, increasing quality, increasing innovation, and increasing responsiveness to the customer. in order to achieve these goal , managers must encourage creativity in finding new ways to use resources efficently, reward risk taking, and encourage employees to provide outstanding customer service.

The nature of manager job has also changed in response to the shift in the industry concentration of the united state from manufacturing to more service oriented emphasis. this has caused modification in the nature of the work performed and manadated a greater emphasis on personal relations and leadership skill.

In addition , managers need to take advantage of the technologican advances that offer opportunities to increase responsivenees to the customer, improve quality, facilitate communication, and increase the rate of innovation. organizations that can harness the power of these new technologies and information system to increase performance will maintain competative advantage in an increasingly complex business environment.
