1) The functions of operating system are as follows:

Managing the computer resources, central processing unit, memory , disk driver and printer as well as manage the user interface and executes the services.

2) This si defined as a way for the program for interaction with that of the Operating System.

3) This is implemented when the computer program requests for a service with respect to the kernel of the OS for which it is to be executed.

This helps to provide the services to the OS via API or application program interface which is an interface between the process as well as OS for allowing the user level process for request services.

4) Types of system calls are:

process control, file manipulations, device manipulations, information maintenance and communication.
