Question
Suppose you are working in the IT Support department of a computer store. A customer calls you and says “I bought a computer from your store a year ago. It was working fine until yesterday. Now, the computer keeps popping up errors about low disk space."
question 1: What is causing the problem?
question 2: One solution is to replace the disk or drive with a larger disk or drive. Why is this a bad solution for a computer newbie.
question 3: What would you tell the customer to resolve the problem?
Please assume the customer has rebooted the machine and has scanned the computer for malware. Please assume the computer has all of the latest software updates installed and has all of the latest drivers installed. I am looking for in-depth answers that are truly helpful to the customer. Please cite references.
HINTS: what is a disk or drive
how does a computer use a disk or drive
when does a computer use a disk or drive how do I see how much disk or drive space my computer using how do I get my computer to use less/more disk or drive space how is a disk or drive installed in a computer what must a person know before replacing a disk or a drive how is a disk or drive replaced what must a person do after replacing a disk or a drive
Explanation / Answer
1)The problem might be because of insufficient memory in C drive where the OS resides for most of the computers.
2)Replacing the drive is a bad solution for a newbie because the current drive might be sufficient for his needs about thinking his basic needs he would have bought the drive space only because of some unncecessary files the storage space is getting reduced .If he can get rid of those extra memory taking unnecessary things he can happily get back his space which according to him will be more than suffciient for him.
3)I would first suggest to run a scan for checking any junk files because most of the junk files occupy the space .After getting rid of these junk files second thing is personal inspection like making note of what all softwares are important and were installed by the user himself. If he finds anything suspicious occupying the large chunk of space then he must immediately delete it doing so will provide him some extra space. He can uninstall softwares using control panel .Even after doing all these steps if still issue exists then he must go for formatting the c drive .For this first he must transfer all the important data and software to somewhere else via pendrive and after formatting he can install them back.
A disk or drive is a storage device used in computers to store data and other important things related to computer.
A computer uses a drive to store its Operating system ,install softwares provided by users. To store media content like video, audio, images etc.,
You can check all the drives present in your computer by simply navigating to computer this is a icon present in most computers else you can search it in start bar as 'computer' after going there you can see the number of drives present in your system and the storage capacity of them along with the free space present in them.
Drive replacement can be done by ourselves or with the help of a technician this is done by simply replacing the present drive from the cabinet box with the new one having more capacity.
I hope all your questions are answered.
