Do you think your community is prepared to recognize manifestations of stress and provide your citizens with the emotional and psychological support it needs to deal with a disaster or tragedy? If so, what are the strengths of its plans? If not, where does your community need to improve? In preparing your answer, research the response to a recent tragedy (e.g., the Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut in 2012, or the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013) to determine what support was or was not available to the respective communities. How does your community measure up?

Explanation / Answer

After researching about our community as well as looking at different aspect I can see that our community is not ready or prepared for recognising the consequences of stress and emotional or psychological relations with a disaster.

Our community needs to improve different factors such as understanding of a situation where availability of proper explanation and training for different possibilities of emergency situations could be provided. People are very passive towards these a disaster unsure reluctancy in discussing such a specific incidents. As this kind of emergency situations are happening at a very large scale in current operating environment, implementing proper training programs as well as influential systems would enable an organisation or a community to maintain better standards of operation.

Implementing structure of education where availability of such a specific situation must be described to the children as well as implementation of this type of approach in education system would also provide adequate support to the operational capabilities of a society and increases their adaptability towards fighting with such a specific psychological and emotional orders.

In the recent case at Sandy hook Elementary School shooting, community was almost clueless of providing support to the victims as well as assessment of the current emergency drive situations. Many of the communities were not having adequate support to the response as well as our society also require proper implementation of security measures in institutional establishment as these mass shootings are directly increasing the risk of propensity this type of structure to the society rather than keeping it away from such places.

After this is specific incident, level of security guidelines as well as increment in availability of opportunities for increasing adaptability process for providing flexible situations and strong safety measurements were applied.
