Answering the first 4 questions:
1. In my team, there was a person who had the habit of procrastinating things. We are a set of software developers who are involved in coding and testing in Java. We work in an agile setup where changes are incorporated in every phase of the project development. This team member of mine, used to procrastinate things till the final testing of the project. In one of the projects, the deployment was quite restrictive and project was getting released very quickly. In such scenario, he fumbled in many of the requirements and as a result, the whole project solution got rejected from the client.
The remedial measures which can help him are:
2. Organizational skills are important as they are the job skills which help an individual in maintaining his work ability as well as quality. The worker is able to maintain his focus on the work at hand because of the organizing skills. This, in turn helps in enhancing his overall performance.
An individual, who is quite focused on his job, has quite high organizational skills. Some of the observable characteristics, which such a person possesses are:
4. One of the biggest challenges I faced in my life was related to Minor-Project in the 7th semester of my engineering. My group was severely lagging behind in preparation of our project due to more focus on mid-terms and practical exams. Our preparation was not in a good shape and the closely approaching deadline was taking its toll on everyone and in the given situation our chances of completing the project were looking really bleak and some of us were convinced that our project will not come to fruition in given time..
We were only a week away from the submission date when I believed it was time I stirred some life into the group when it was needed the most. That is when I quoted to them a quote from one of my most favourite novella “Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption” - “Remember that hope is a good thing, Red, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies.” And a smile swept across every face in our group.
There was renewed energy in our group and we together planned to revamp our efforts and look upon the problems. We pondered over what was ailing our progress and narrowed it down to working in an unorganized manner and not having distributed the proper roles to everyone. I directed everyone and distributed the roles keeping in mind everyone’s strengths and group synergy. Everyone started to work with renewed energy and everything started falling into place as we prudently proceeded on our respective jobs. We were able to successfully complete the project in time and were satisfied with our results. Our project was well received by the faculty-in-charge and we got 10 out of 10 pointer in our Minor-Project. Such is the effect of positive stress on an individual or team. Positive stress helps in improving the performance as well as effectiveness of entire team.
5. In my views, workplace is a purely professional setting where certain decorum of conduct must be maintained. Showing anger is like showing one’s vulnerability to others and thus exposing one’s weakness. In the workplace, if one is not happy or angry with a certain aspect, instead of showing it out-loud, the individual can use a restrained approach and can try to put out his point in a very professional manner. This helps in maintaining the decorum of the workplace.
