Question

For decades, Toyota has earned a reputation for manufacturing high-quality automobiles. In 2009 and 2010, the car company experienced a wave of safety problems, resulting in a huge number of recalled autos. In response, Akio Toyoda, the president of Toyota issued the following statement: "We pursued growth over the speed at which we were able to develop our people and our organization," he said. "I regret that this has resulted in the safety issues described in the recalls we face today, and I am deeply sorry for any accidents that Toyota drivers have experienced."

In a page or 2 explain what you think that Toyota’s president meant in his statement and how you believe that production is related to quality, in general, and at Toyota specifically.

Explanation / Answer

According to me Akio Toyoda , the president of the automobile company Toyota. Aplologized for the company’s handling of safety measures. In his statement he accepted that in order to grab the company’s profit over their competitors and in the race of expanding their business they become confused and were not able to stick to their priorities regarding safety which was regarded as a first in the list of priorities earlier. In his apology he stated that they were not able to make improvements , were not able to think, as were able to before and they started ignoring their customers’ s suggestion to make better product. He realized the company to be liable of all the safety issues held and to all the accidents that Toyoto drivers have experienced.

In the statement of the president, Akio Toyado has listed his priority rules that he has establshed for his company Toyoto at the time of its foundation which were, first; Safety, second; Quality, and third; Volume. And then he unable to follow these priorities rules in action afterwards, He promised his cutomers that he will do anything to ensure that such tragedy never happens again.

Yes I do feel that production is related to quality, if the company focusses on the quantity of production rather than the quality of production he will never going to get success in any field. In the case of Toyoto, the Predident Akio Toyado ignored their quality of cars production in order to grab more customers and rapid sales but at the end of the day they failed in the quality department of their vehicle and loose their customer trust and loyalty. Quality is the foremost priority rule of any company to get a advantage over its competitors and to sustain in the market for the longer period of time by grabbing rapid no. of customers and won their trust .Akio Toyado ensured his customers after the safety issues occured that he will improve his quality and put this as a no. One in his priorities and will work on the principles of putting the customers first. He made a commitment at the end of his statement that Toyoto will work vigorously and unceasingly to restore the trust of their customers.
