An example of styling getting wrong and affecting the functionality is tiny looking headlights of some vehicles introduced by Japanese companies in the Indian market. Representative of one of these Japanese companies told that the Japanese relate the design features of these vehicles with their own looks, hence the tiny headlights symbolise the tiny eyes that they have. The logic was fine, but it came in the way of functionality and customer acceptance where the headlights, though powerful enough to fulfill their purpose, did not go well with the Indian consumers, most of them liked to have bigger and bolder headlights on their vehicles. The companies modified them to some extent, but still, one does see smaller, sharper headlights on most Japanese vehicles.
