Question
Think of someone you know who has lost a job due to downsizing, the planned elimination of jobs. (This should not be a person who was fired due to disciplinary or other performance-related reasons.) Describe the situation and organization where that person worked without revealing the name of the individual or organization. Explain what, if anything, the organization could have done to avoid downsizing. Consider alternatives to downsizing options. (If you do not know anyone who has lost a job, explain the actions organizations, in general, might take to avoid the need for downsizing.)
Explanation / Answer
People often loose jobs due to downsizing , a process where a company is made smaller by removing it's staff . This is done mostly when there is a loss for the company or it have excess of staff. This cause the employee to get face many problems as they will face the problems of unemployment. They might not even get anoother job and will have to work for smaller companies. Downsizing can be avoided if the organisation plans it's business correctly and monitors it's imporvement. It also needs to recruit as per it's requirement only and if more staff are required for a project it can take them on contract basis so that they can be prepared when the contract gets completed and look for other jobs. This gives employees and the organisation a hope to avoid downsizing.
