Leader : Steve Jobs, APPLE. INC
Steve Jobs started Apple with the vision of getting a computer in the hands of everyday people in 1976. It created the PC revolution and a company icon of American business. Jobs had interest in electronics and gadgetry right from the high school. He was also enrolled in Reed college, Portland for graduation but dropped out after one semester. After that he and his friend Wozniak started working on prototype of Apple I, he pulled the company he founded against all odds.
Change in Organizational culture :
Apple experienced major organizational change when the New CEO Tim Cook took the charge.
1. Steve Jobs was not must into environmental issues, human rights or charity, while Tim Cook is working upon to improve conditions in supply chain, to make company 100% sustainable energy powered.
2. Tim Cook is trying to improve labor conditions by displaying more social responsibilities. Instead on emphasizing on leadership, Tim Cook believes in teamwork.
3. Apple is upgrading their existing products instead of releasing new revolutionary gadgets like iPhones and iPads.
What can one learn from these changes ?
1. Though the work done by leaders differ greatly, like Steve Jobs and Tim Cook, neither is right or wrong here, they just have different philosophies at work.
2. There's always a way to make products even better and valuable.
3. Making a valuable contribution to the society and the world at large.
