a. Today's era is totally dedicated to customer by companies. Companies work according to requirement of customers. In the same manner marketing team of Ford will survey the market in different cities of america,Europe and Asia for desired customer requirement. Marketing team will check what will be the expectation of customer when they launch the first electric SUV vehicle ? What configuration desired by the customer in electric vehicle and what should be the price range for the vehicle ? Marketing Research team will prepare questionare format for survey in market and take the input for the desired electric vehicle. Basically electic car manufacuring for fuel free and ecofriendly purpose so this purpose should be fulfil by Ford.
Though this vehicle will run in different cities of America, Asia & Europe so SUV should be compatible with roads design of these cities. Need to take care the traffic rules of these cities while design this car.
All these customer requirement prepared by market team and sent to respective design team for initial design for SUV.
b. Based on the requirement received by design team they design the vehicle different parts like chasis, Engines, seating design and storage capacity, music system and headlamps. Design team should suggest that which part should be used for SUV so that procurement can be start and develope a vendor if required. Though this vehicle is electric vehicle it need to take a trial electricity charging and backup.
Software Developer team need to develope a software whatever requirement based on design team which support the hardware of the vehicle.
Organization need to focus on the facility and manpower availability where it going to assemble. Need to prepare a proposal whatever the requirement to setup a assembly line. & HR need to prepare a proposal for manpower requirement.
c. Though electric vehicle is launching first time so it design should not have any drawback which can be hazardous for the customer. Organization should consider the safety point on top priority while design this vehicle. Design failure mode need to analyse by Research & Developement team. Need to calculate the risk associated by design to understand the Risk.
Software and harware mechanism would be very complex for design team to understand. A proper design should be executed so that hardware system should operate with software system.
Mechanical system need to operated by electricity in place of petrol or diesel so Design team will take time for R&D of the product. It need to provide all facility like petrol car so total mechanism of the operating system will be different. It need to be more experiement for design a new car.
