One issue that many companies face is determining what the best production practices are for their products. This often involves examining not only the quality and specifications of incoming raw materials but also the process variables such as how long to heat something, what temperature to use, how long to cool a part, and so forth. If you were charged with maximizing the effectiveness of a manufacturing process, how might you go about the task assuming you have all of the needed measurements of the different variables involved in the process?

To maximise the effectiveness of the process, following points are to be observed abd followed.

(a) Knowledge of technical aspects of the process. The manager must know what every parameter means to the product, and how the properties of the products alter when each of the parameter decreases or increases,

(b) What is the most desirable set of product parameters for its fitness for use for customers. What process parameters produce those desirable attributes,

(c) Standardise the process parameters and fix the limits for deviation. Define quality norms.

(d) Devise the methods of sampling, testing and evaluating the quality related aspects and method of correction thereof.

(e) Train the employees in quality control process as described above.

(f) Monior the quality by regular and comprehensive testing processes. Evaluate the results.

(g) Gather valuable imputs from evaluation results and apply them to the process modification and further quality enhancement. Continue till best quality is achieved.
