This paper is an essay, which will summarize your experiences and your personal development/growth throughout the semester in this course.
Your paper should begin with the original thoughts and propositions you asserted about your initial beliefs on leadership communication styles, motivation strategies, and your ideas on how empowerment of others might impact their motivation/productivity.
In addition, integrate what you first indicated to be your own strongest leadership behaviors, as well as your weakest.
Next, discuss any insights you developed about yourself (your behaviors and traits), as you explored the readings and engaged with the class throughout the semester.
Discuss any ways that your initial ideas may have changed or evolved. Discuss concepts from the textbook that you found that you could apply practically in your real life.
Explain any direct connections you made to your real life experience as you prepared your Case study/Research project and presentation.
Finally, explain which segments of the textbook helped you to best understand what it takes to be an ideal leader, and PROPOSE A CONCEPTUALIZED FRAMEWORK of the “ideal leader”.

Explanation / Answer
In the coursework, I was the leader in many of the group case study exercises. My first group case study as a leader taught me several lessons. As a leader of the group of five members, I initially thought that on separating the tasks to every group member, the case would be finished. I first planned a meeting using the democratic communication style intimating everyone to attend the meeting after the class to discuss the case. I got resentment straightaway with two members not attending the case meeting. Then I used interpersonal leadership communication style to meet them personally and allocate the tasks. On communicating individually, I found that one member was attending a part-time job to meet his tuition fee and cannot attend any case meetings after the class. The other member was spending time with his girlfriend and had a lot of personal problems. The remaining two members were organized and performed their allocated tasks. Now I have to complete my casework and as well support the other two members with their work and monitor their work progress regularly. I helped the part-time worker member of the group by making him understand the case and motivated him to accomplish his task. First, I talked with him to foster a positive relationship and developed trust. We became good friends and I helped him to complete his task and present his case task before the class. The other member had personal problems and I empowered him with the responsibility of monitoring other activities of the casework and report to me. This encouraged him to work and complete his portion of the work. Overall, we presented the case study in a professional manner in the class and got good marks from the tutor.
My biggest strength as a leader is my interpersonal communication skills in the case study. My other strengths include being honest with my group members, inspiring others to finish their task, taking up responsibility and being accountable, delegating tasks successfully and empowering group members. My weakness was poor planning and poor organization in the group case study. I was able to assemble the entire group only on the last day before the case presentation. I developed a lot of leadership behaviors personally. I became confident that I can handle a group effectively and complete the task within the deadline as a leader. I learnt that I can inspire others in the group. My decision-making capabilities have increased gradually and I was able to make others in the group follow me. I showed empathy towards the part-time worker member and understood his problems to guide him in the right direction to get things done.
