Supply chain relationship – Steps:

In any manufacturing industry – main supply chain process is

Step 1 : Procurement of raw materials

Step 2 : Work-in-progress

Step 3 : Finished goods

Step 4 : Distributors/Wholesalers

Step 5 : Retailers

Step 6 : Customers

Critical steps always depend on the type of products the company manufacture

For example, FMCG & Pharma Products, even though the type or flavor of the products may differ, but the procedure of manufacturing is reasonably same and the available vendors for raw materials are also more. But reaching up to the customer level, need a good distributors and retailers network to increase their sales. Here the critical area is good distribution network.

For some companies, they want to reduce the inventory space of the organizations, were they follow the Just in Time approach. Timely procurement of raw materials based on demand is the critical area for the companies which follow the Just in Time approach.
