1. In meiosis, the chromosome number is reduced by half becausethis process produces gametes (eggs and sperm). Gametes mustcontain one half the number of somatic (non-gamete) cells becausetwo gametes fuse to form a zygote at fertlization. and the zygotecarries equal genetric contributions from each parent. In thezygote, one-half of the chromosomes come from the male and one-halffrom the female. 2. If the mother has O type blood and the father has A then thechild could not have AB blood type.
