Question

Employers and employees have a unique relationship. The employee agrees to provide the employer with a fair day's work, and in return the employer agrees to provide a fair day's wage. Pam is a receptionist for Dunder Mifflin. Although her day is usually pretty full, Pam is not always busy and spends time drawing pictures or talking to her colleague, Jim, even playing tricks on another colleague, Dwight.

However, Pam is paid a minimum wage of $7.50, despite other receptionists in similar positions making $13 per hour.

Explain please?

Explanation / Answer

i dont believe she is acting unethically. She is being paid the minimum wager and considering she is finishing her work and may be having fun doesnt mean its unethical. Practically no one really works throughout the day. Everyone has their share of fun. She is probably getting paid less cause she is a fresher or new and the other employees are old.

If she spends all her time fooling around then you could say that it is unethical. But if she completes her work on time and does a good job there is no reason for ethics if she is having some fun.

And for Dunder Mifflin as i said Pam is probably a new joinee so he pays her less than the other employees. So he is paying her what she should get as a new comer.

Note : Pam has a good time at work , drawing , chatting with her friends, so you could say that she is happy to be working there and she is getting the right pay for the kind of work. So probably she thinks she is getting what she deserves.
