"11 TFw 3:50 PM @ 0 * 64%) in-: THINKING ETHICALLY S IT ETHICAL TO DISCRIMINATE AGAINST THE UNEMPLOYED? Imagine that your job includes identifying qualified applicants to fill job openings at your company. As you compare two résumés, you see that the applicants' experiences are similar, except that one applicant was working until a month ago, while the other's last job ended a year ago How will yourchoebetwen them Reports and some research suggest that some companies are more likely to choose the candidate who was employed until recently. Some job advertisements have even specified that the company will not consider the long-term unemployed. Practical thinking may be behind the practice: if you assume that someone who has been out of work for a long time has been job hunting, you might suspect that other employers have found reasons not to hire him or her. It seems efficient not to repeat the process of uncovering those problems, whatever they might be.Explanation / Answer
1: a: Companys performance:If the preference is given for already employed person chances of improving companys performance is high. The candiate has work experience so that it would easy for the organisation to make the person fit ito the role through minimal cost of training. Employees could adapt with the job quickly because of past experience. b: Workers seeking job will get benefit if they have prior work experience and with minimum gap after the last company's exit. They will get advantage of their previous employement experience . At the same time person who has taken longer gaps will struggle because of this policy as chances of getting rejected by the employer is high. c: Based on the community , if it is affected badly by recession kind of economical issues will suffer a lot. The economy become muc more worse because of unemployment and this will leads to crisis. Thus ethically employers should not give any such disrimination and recruitement should be purely based on the merit, abilities and relevant work experience.
2: Ethically speaking companies have some liabilities and responbilities for the upliftment of society. At the same time they have to think from business point of view. Thus recruitement shopuld be based on merits, education, their capability to fit into the roles rather than gaps on unemployement. If the reason is justifiable then here should not be any such discrimination agains those category fo people and all shoud be given equal importance.
The hiring policies without any bias, totally oriented on objectives of the companys requirement, merit basis, candidated capability to the particular role and their fitness to organisation culture and it sacceptability would be the most fair practise.
