Find a description of a manager in a corporation in Business Week, Forbes, Fortune, Wall Street Journal, or another business publication or do your research on the Web.   Gather information about what the manager does and the role he or she plays in the company. Identify the organizational level and business function where this manager works.   Make a list of the kinds of decisions this manager has to make and the kind of information that manager would need for those decisions. Suggest how information systems could supply this information.

Manager is an employee who needs to plan monitor and oversee various operations in a team . The responsibilities of manager is dynamic in nature and that varies from size of organisation , nature of business etc. Manager role has evolved a lot over decides in industry because of change in economical political and social environment which reflect on corporate management style. The old bueracrautic way of managers attitude has changed to participative type and they have started taking things more rational and pragmatic. In the era of technology fusiomed corproate management a manager has to manage global teams where resources are based on different locations and cultural diversity language diversity etc has to be managed and give respect on it. Nurtuing peers , providing them enough space to grow through learning and opportunities and motivate them through active involvement in work is necessary for leading a successful team. Manager has to ensure proper work life balance to their team members. Setting targets , monitoring them , design SMART goals , preparing high level reports on productivity and status of projects, monitoring projects and review the health of project through governance call with clients etc are new characterstics or the current era responsibility of a manager.

Information system nowadays everything has autaomted with ERP tools, data management and visualisation tools. Thus flow of information is much more stable thougj manager has to understand the complexity of different data source and provide insight through that.
