The features that a presidential candidate may have that will lead to people to vote for such a candidate (as observed from the recent past) is dominated by the candidate’s experience and proven track record. Pollsters are not so much concerned about the candidate’s idea for the nation going forward but are more concerned with the candidate’s university (the candidate should have attended a prestigious university), the candidate’s service in the military (the candidate should have ideally served in the military), and the candidate’s personal and professional life (a stability in personal and professional life is desired). Other features that pollsters look for in a candidate are presence of a competitive streak, the ability to get intense when required, inspiring, courageous, consistent and focused.

Usually support is limited for candidates who do not believe in God, and has had personal financial or family troubles.
