Explanation / Answer

Group Project at Work

Introduction:

Any group projects performance is quite effective and productive for the growth of the organization. The group project is generally handover to a team having more than three members. The prime advantage of the group project is that many ideas are shared equally by the team members which help the project to construct it properly (Gatfield, 1999). Group projects bring the best outcome in the final stage of its completion if it is done by mutual and equal co-operation.

Free rider Problems and Incentive plans:

These are the two major facts which create conflicts in group projects; the free-rider issue is very common among the teammates. Suppose as an example; if a group member has given a project to design a power point presentation and only four members are commencing the project. Out of four; it is generally seen that two are working and rest two acts casually or do not involve directly (Goldfinch, 1994). But, during recommendation or at the time of getting the appraisal all of the four are equally distributed the honor and each of them is appraised with a reward by the organization. This factor creates many constraints among the teammates in the workplace.

The incentive plans are also not judged by the individual performance as it is a group work, total performance in the project are considered after the completion and then a reward is given to all of them. It is necessary that all the team members should show the same efficiency as each one and should accept others ideas of work, this will help the project outcomes much organized and completed as per the direction.

Conclusion:

The group project team leader should be friendly and allows all members to share their ideas so that the best outcome comes. It is also necessary aspects of a team leader to make all members work divided as per the project necessary so that everyone gets involved and rest finally achieves the best results from them to avoid any such incentive plan issues and free rider problems.
