Question

Hello, I need help with the following paragraph and question. Positive feedback and comments will be left, if both question is answered properly. Thank you so much for your time!

Instructions: In a paragraph for the question, provide your insights to the "Ethical Dilemma" paragraph below, and answer the question proceeding. This should be at least one paragraph long.

“Ethical Dilemma”

As a manufacturer of athletic shoes whose image—indeed performance—is widely regarded as socially responsible, you find your costs increasing. Traditionally, your athletic shoes have been made in Indonesia and South Korea. Although the ease of doing business in those countries has been improving, wage rates have also been increasing. The labor-cost differential between your current suppliers and a contractor who will get the shoes made in China now exceeds $1 per pair. Your sales next year are projected to be 10 million pairs, and your analysis suggests that this cost differential is not offset by any other tangible costs; you face only the political risk and potential damage to your commitment to social responsibility. Thus, this $1 per pair savings should floe directly to your bottom line. There is no doubt that the Chinese government engages in censorship, remains repressive, and is a long way from a democracy. Moreover, you will have little or no control over working conditions, sexual harassment, and pollution. What do you do, and on what basis do you make your decision?

Question1: In about one paragraph, provide a managerial insight as to what you would do in the situation raised in the end of the "Ethical Dilemma"

Explanation / Answer

Honestly speaking if I would be the manager in that case I will stretch my hands for support towards social responsibility. Because I believe that “If doing good to the society misleads a firm from the core business they may actually irresponsible to an extent. A non- profitable business trying to do good to the society is no good”.

Instead of falling into unethical practice I would like to bring some changes so that this will equally benefit both my company in terms of profit and serve my social purpose also. Infact it is a true fact that a good CSR would definitely improve a company's brand image and customers get attracted to corporation having a good brand image and social responsibility and show a commitment towards human welfare.

A solution to this case can be outsourcing the manufacturing process. In that manner the cost of manufacturing will also be add and purpose of leading social responsibility will also get fulfilled.
