Explanation / Answer

Resource constraints are the factors whose unavailability may affect the successful completion of the project. This occurs when the resources are being used for any other projects of the company, there may be inadequate supply, or delay in the procurement of the resources. As as impact of the resource constraints there may be delay in the projects, errors in the project out put as as reult of rushing, high stress level of employees and quiting of skilled employes. Before intializing a project a pre prouction check has to be done to confirm if all the resources are available.

Some of the examples of resource constraints are limited equipments, inadequte skillled staffs, shortage of raw materials etc. The company should be equipped with adequate equipments before starting a project. If any bulk orders are booked they may not be able to execute it with the available ones. Second chances are there that the equipments are being used for any other ongoing projects and making it a resource constraint for the new project. Absence of skilled staffs are also constraints to a project. Staff skill is a very important factor deciding the performance of the project. Other examples like shortage of raw materials, unexpected power shutdown, sudden break down of the machines also add to the resource constraints.
