Yes. Resource levelling keeps a project on schedule.

In a project management, the basic challenging factors are time and resources. In resource levelling (keeping total project time fixed) we try to smooth the fluctuations in resource requirements over time, without going over time. Here, we, mobilize resources across activities and different time to accomplish the project within stipulated time.

Resource levelling helps in sticking to schedule because activities are delayed or extended only till their positive slack is used up. They are not extended beyond that. Only if they are extended beyond the available slack, the project is delayed. Here resources are applied as uniformly as possible across requirements. Resources are distributed so that no activity is affected or delayed beyond the available, slack.
