Question
The purpose of this assignment is to identify how course concepts apply to current events and practices in real organizations. For each paper, you should do the following: Find a news article about a current event or situation that you can relate to an OB concept from this course. The OB concept can be from material we’ve already covered or issues we have not yet covered. It is entirely up to you. The news article should be recent (from the last 6 months) and from a reputable news media source (e.g., Wall Street Journal, New York Times, CNN, Boston Globe, etc.). Please do not choose articles from blog postings or business websites that merely discuss an OB topic (e.g., a blog posting defining and explaining organizational culture is not appropriate)
The goal is for you to use the OB concept as a way of analyzing the current event or situation in the article. For example, you may use the concept to more deeply understand what’s described in the article; you may use the concept to offer a counterpoint to what is described in the article; you may use the concept to think critically about how to address/solve the issue in the article. This means choosing an article that is merely is a description of an OB concept (e.g., an informational article describing what motivation is) is probably not the best approach. There are examples of strong papers from past students posted on Blackboard.
