a. What do other people see as your strengths and weaknesses? How well do their views match what you consider to be your strengths and weaknesses?
Personally speaking, I would like to cite examples from my workplace. My colleagues view my anger or immediate reaction to any criticism as weaknesses. Also, they view my strong communication and organizing skills as my strengths. The views of my colleagues absolutely match with my real strengths and weaknesses. There is no difference in their views as I have received both positive and negative feedback from my Team Manager for being so.
b. How well do your accomplishments reflect your strengths? What would you need to do differently in order to put your strengths to work more fully?
My accomplishments in my workplace are organizing and guiding the ‘rewards and recognition’ team which awards deserving candidates among 250 employees. While being the Journal Manager for a portfolio of journals, responsible for publishing 11 journals, I was also the Team Lead for the rewards committee. This requires a very high level of organizing skills to be successful. Effective communication was an integral part of my skills which made the rewards committee and the publishing role a success.
c. Are you a “high-potential” student? Why or why not?
Yes, I am a high-potential student as I have outstanding talents relative to others in terms of experience.
d. How did it feel to be assessed by others? How can you learn from the experience?
I felt that I need to bank on my strengths and improve on my weaknesses (immediate reaction to criticism). When people assess my skills, I understand the ‘real’ me and take criticisms positively. I learnt many things from my experience. Experience taught me how my weaknesses impact my colleagues and my career growth.
