I have selected to use Snapchat, which has all to do with mobile computing. Snapchat is an application that was developed to connect people via messages, videos or pictures that can only be viewed for a certain amount of time and then it disappears, therefore, it is not semi-permanent like in Facebook or Instagram. Mobile computing is critical to this company becuase the only way to use it is through a mobile device. This mobile application allows you to communicate with your friends without having to be next to them or even in the same State or Country. It also benefits companies becuase Snapchat now provides Ad’s that are 10 seconds long for all Snapchat users. Snapchat has also launched their new Snapchat “Spectacles” glasses, which allows users to take videos or pictures with the push of a button on their sunglasses. The glasses then connect with the Snapchat application via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The WiFi is used to transfer the pictures from your glasses to the app making it possible to download the images to the app. The Bluetooth is so tht your phone can read it and connect to glasses. As you can see Mobile computing plays a huge part in the Snapchat company, giving us an alternative way to communicate with one another. I personally use Snapchat and I love the fact that what is posted is not permanent. THat give me more confidence to post something funny or embarrassing knowing that only the people that I have selected and see it and will not be able to share it with anyone else like in Facebook. Snapchat also sends you a notification if some has taking a screen shot of the picture or video you posted. Making it a bit more safer and private.

Advantages for mobile computing for a business are:

-One of the major advantage is in this business the productivity is higher as the business is all software related which makes the use of computing technology to increase its productivity of operations.

-This business is cost effective as there are no distribution costs or extensive labour or processing costs but only server and human resource costs.

-Also marketing is not a big issue for such business as it's the era of smartphones and marketing can be done online through other platforms and apps.

Disadvantages of mobile computing are:

-Mobile computing only works when connectivity is available, for an area where there is poor connectivity, this business won't work.

-Power requirements are high as the smartphones and other connected devices run on power, hence the need of power is required before even connectivity.

-Even though as snapchat has 10 second share feature, privacy risks are still there due to presence of hackers and external recording devices that can capture your posts.
