Describe the type of analysis you would use. If you are suggesting an analysis that uses multiple variables, make sure you indicate how each is used. EXAMPLE: cross tabulation, must indicate row variable and column variable. What analysis would you complete to determine if there is a significant relationship between age and the importance of food quality? Assuming a significant relationship exists, how would we know which age groups are significantly different? Describe the type of analysis you would use. Explanation / Answer
Analysis used to find if significant relationship exists:
In order to find out if any relationship exists between the age group and the quality of the food intake, the best way is finding correlation between the two variables.
Here the first variable is the age and the second variable is the quality of food. The presence of relationship can be found out using correlation. It can be either positively correlated or negatively correlated. Positive correlation means as the age increases the quality of the food intake should also improve. On the other hand, negative correlation means with the increase in age, the quality of food intake reduces.
How to know which age groups are significantly different:
By significant relation we mean that there are chances that the relationship between two tested variables is caused due to some reason and not just by chance.
To find if age groups are significantly different, hypothesis is tested and the test gives the p value. If the p value is less than 0.5, then we can say that the age groups are significantly different.
It is important to note that we set the p value as 0.5 because we test the hypothesis at 5% level of significance.
