Question

Ethical philosophies are based on essentially two basic moral principles or moral reasoning:

- Consequentialist - locates morality in the consequences of an act (ex. utilitarianism)

- Categorical - locates morality in certain absolute moral requirements or categorical duties and rights.

Suppose you find yourself in a situation in which killing an innocent person is the only way to prevent many innocent people from dying. What’s the right thing to do? Would you murder one person to save three lives?

REQUIRED: Give me a response to the question posed. You must give me an ethical philosophy that supports your answer and an explanation of how your response relates to that philosophy (prove you understand your response and how it ties to the philosophy). You can also add your own individual thoughts. No research is needed or expected. Total words (at least 200 words)

Explanation / Answer

This is not a right way of approach to kill innocent people just to prevent them, there are many other ways. You can always protect the innocent person by protecting them with the help of law. Also you can educate people who are trying to hurt the innocent people and if they are not ready to understand the issues, it is always there to take help from the federal government and they will always support against the people who try to harm them. Murdering one person makes other innocent people also to get scared on being alive and it brings a real trouble to them. Hence my suggestion is always protect the innocent people and keep the people away from those innocents who are being troubled.
