1. The performance appraisal was first established as a process of direct motivation. Performance appraisal is a process to evaluate the overall performance of the employer on various categories like production, quality assessment, Time and attendance etc. Key performance indicators are evaluated with their leybresuly areas as a result of which the appraisal serves as a motivational factor for the employees. Performance appraisals not only serve as motivational factor but are also a recognition or acknowledgement for the work an employee has performed over a period of time.
