I confess that I don’t fully understand the intricate scientific evidence we often read about for the move toward a green environment to save Earth. Having said this, without full understanding, I do give these empirical researches the benefit of my doubt. For example, this week it is reported that Antarctica is melting faster than anticipated by scientists. One possible reason advocated, is the emission of greenhouse gasses at the hands of human (Gray 2018).

Also individual behavior can sway outsiders who do not understand or those who are unconcerned. Although many people are concerned, Babutsideze & Chai explains, most are not taking any action. The company I work for has invested in “going green” as part of the sustainability strategy. Our online Newsletter boasts more than 250 LEED-certified projects are on the way that includes LEED-certified green buildings. For example, the building I work in is LEED and Energy Star certified. Added to this, the company is committed to reduce emissions and energy consumption by 30% by 2020.

More jobs are created with the renew energy - no pun intended - that is directed toward a clean environment. For example, more homes are installing solar roofs, there is concerted move to wind installation to reduce fossil fuels, and there is progress in building clean vehicles. All these efforts are creating job. Take wind power for example, according to National Geographic, this industry is experiencing increased growth as wind capacity, globally, has increased. In addition (Gloudeman 2018), jobs are being added to meet the increase in solar and wind installation, clean car and green building. He reports that according to the Department of Energy, employment in the green movement rose approximately 18% between 2015 and 2016 with 2 ½ more people employed in this sector than in fossil fuels.
