Personal selling is nothing but sales forces on ground who sell product by meeting customer face to face. In last 10 years personal selling has seen unprecedented change because of social media.
In olden days sales person found it difficult to find customers who is interested in product but now things has changed. Now sales person can post advertisement of his product on social media, interested customers will contact sales person. This has reduced efforts of sales person.
In olden days boundary of sales person was limited to certain area but now because of social media boundary for customer acquisition is unlimited.
In olden days sales person bound it difficult to promote his product. He should set up banners, platelets etc to promote his product. Now as a result of social media promotion of product is quite simple and cost effective.
Long term prospective of personal selling
Long term prospective of personal selling is good. Even in the age of social media personal selling as its own importance. Social media might attract buyers towards product but due to many substitutions available customers might buy alternative or rivals product, hence it is advisable to have strong ground sales force.
