Ans:- Marketing, communication, economic, and societal roles of advertising plays important part in advertising. Marketing role caters to the need of customers by fulfilling their requirement. The primary focus is on product and services delivery to customers.

Communication role makes an impact on consumer's mind by different medium like Television, radio, banner and posters, social media etc. They try to generate brand recall under consumer's mind.

Economic role mainly focuses on generating value for the customers by providing the product at best possible price. Customers might compare the products and inferior products would be out of the market.

Societal role caters to fulifill the social need of a customer. It generates new trends in the society, break old norms in society. It provides information on social, health and economical issues. It helps in development of society and technology.

Out of all the roles, the communication role plays a crucial and influential part in success of any advertising campaign. This is due to the following reason:-

a). The communication role helps in brand building activity. It creates an impact on consumer's mind.

b). It fecilitates brand recall and promotes repeat purchase of the product.

c). Communication is a medium by which a product can bind emotionally with the consumer and develop a relation. For ex:- Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate promotes an emotion of Joy and celebration. Consumer tries to give these chocolates to someone on an occassion of happiness.

d). It decides to the success or failure of any advertising campaign. The sales of products or services increase rapidly if communication is successful with the customer.
