Question

When signing up for a website or service online, there is typically a "click on agreement" at the end which will have a small box for you to check beside "I agree" or "i accept". The courts have concluded that clicking "I agree" is an acceptance of an online offer. Many times these agreements are so long and detailed that often we don't read them before clicking "I accept". Should selecting the "click-on-agreement" count as an acceptance? WHY OR WHY NOT? sHOULD COMPANIES PROVIDE A SHORTER, CONDENSED VERSION THAT THE AVERAGE PERSON MIGHT ACTUALLY READ AND COMPREHEND?

Explanation / Answer

1. Legally click on agreement count as an acceptance, but personally the companies should not considered it as an acceptance, reason being the user does not read it fully and agree to the same.

2. In the need to use the website and lack of time the user clicks on the button without even opening the document.

Yes, company should provide a clear version that even an average person should understand due to below reasons:

1. The whole purpose of creating an agreement is to take concernt of both the parties, and when framed so tediously it does not serve a purpose of agreement.

2. By doing so the user looses interest over the website and sometimes goes in search of other websites.

3. By creating clear and simple agreement the organization can create respect and also increase business from the user end.
