Discuss (replying to this post) how the community of large multinational corporations affect citizens of countries in which they operate. If corporations are reaping large profits because of the availability of cheap labor in Third World countries, should the corporations recognize a duty to improve working conditions or should the corporations recognize a duty only to stockholders? What does it mean to humanize capitalism? How can multinational corporations avoid exploitation? Discuss the need for adequate safety measures and environmental protection even in countries where laws on such matters may be lax. Initial Posts should have at least 2-3 paragraphs (300+ words).

Explanation / Answer

With Gloablization and free market economy companies got a chance to invest in countries where the polpulation is poor , lot of unemployment is there. So the labour are cheap , Market is availble for the products and less strigent laws of safety and environmental issues.

With Companies setting up their manufacuring units in third world companies e.g in INDIA are definetly giving employement to workers but at the same time they are not focussing on environmental issues and polluting the air, so it is the duty of Companies as CSR activity also to invest money and energy on these environmental issues so that living standard and health of human resource of that country should not be harmed.

Capitalism i.e free market economy which gives right to what to produce, how to produce and how much to produce depending on the consumption should also consider human aspect of it making it Humanize Capitalism. Company should keep in mind safety requirement of the worker employed with them i.e. not using hazoudous material , outdated machinery, pollutant gases, harmful chemicals which destroys environment.

Wages of worker should be fair and should be based on minimum wages act of that country , overtime compensation , food facility , rest room and medical facility should also be provided to give a healty, safe and respectful life to these workers, There should be workmen accidental insurance policy which must be part of corporate HR policy, Benefits like Maternity, Paternity , Sick leave, Medical leave should also be part ot companies HR policy to avoid any exploiation.

Green zone must be created , with enviormental awarness programes for the employees to protect environment even if is not in the law should be done as social responsibility toward our earth.
