military structure is well defined structure and roles and responsibilites are clearly defined. and the authority flow also clearly mentioned. the decision making power is always in the hands of higher people. and it is good to the organization where the decision making is more difficult and required many skills and expertise to make good decisions.
for police organizatios this quasy military structure is good and acceptable.
when it comes to other structures, they may decentralize and matrix structured organisations. matrix organisations are best to those which are operationg their activities in more than one regions. decentralized organisations will provide lower level people to make own decisions and give priorities to them.
