In United States, Google uses both trademarked and nontrademenaked terms as keywords in itsw search algorithm, and sells these keywords to both trademark owners adn others to affect placement of sponsored advertisments.
Should search engines be allowed to sell trademarked keywords to affected the placement of sponsored advertisments? Why or Why not?
Explanation / Answer
Digital marketing is an effective marketing strategy in these times. One of the key player in digital marketing is Google.
Companies pays a hefty amount to Google to buy keywords, not only of their own brands, but of the key competitors as well so that when a customer search for their competition brands, their products come up and hence take an adventage over their competition in driving consumer behaviour.
I think search engines should be allowed to sell trademarked keywords to affectively place their sponsored advertisements as this has open a whole new world of marketing for various brands. and has resulted in evolution of digital marketing.
If brands are geting benefitted from such advertising then why should such search engines not charged for their services?
