Ban the box is an international campaign so as to convince the employer to remove the procedure of disclosure of criminal records by the candidate in the hiring practice. As this practice prohibits the ex-offender to start a new life by getting a job suitable to his qualification. Because of which there is high chance that the ex-offender may again turn into a criminal.
The states in which Ban the box is active are California, Connecticut, Minnesota, Hawaii, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey,Vermont, Oregon, Rhode Island, and Washington.
The advantage of Ban the box is that ex-offenders will get a chance to leader normal life by qualifying them for the suitable job. This would also benefit the society at large, as the criminal incidents would reduce. The disadvantage of the ban the box is that the other employees in the organisation may not feel comfortable with ex-offenders who had committed a very serious crying in the past. There is shight chance that the ex-offenders may commit similar crime in the office premises.
