You are the CEO of ABC Medical Center. Your facility has just purchased a very expensive and comprehensive EHR system. You must now convince the staff of the merits and functionality of your new system. You are trying to convince the staff this is a help to them, and get their buy-in on using the system.

·       This should address the staff and discuss all the functions and advantages of your new system, including how you will have more engagement with patients, use various social media tools in communication, and allow more interaction with patients.

·       Your talk will focus primarily on the use of peripheral technology.

o   This includes use of social media to broadcast health information (e.g. smoking cessation; being compliant with medications), advantages of Personal Health Records Tool (e.g. MyChart), and M-Health technology (e.g. mobile phone apps). There may be others to discuss as well, and these are outlined fully in your textbook readings.

Here at ABC Medical Center, giving our customers the best possible service targeted to their particular needs is what we strive for. In order to do that, we as a team need to be able to adapt to new technologies people use and communicate with them through new media outlets in order to keep them healthy and informed. That is why we have just purchased this new top of the line EHR system, which will not only be beneficial for the patients but will make life easier for the staff here as well, facilitating the process of providing the quality service we strive for.

Our new program will focus on peripheral technologies, which allow for external devices to function within our system. This will allow staff to reach out and connect with patients more easily, smoothing out miscommunications and easing the process of setting up a consultation or renewing medication. It will also allow to send out important messages out into the world through social media, something very important, as part of the work of a health care professional to educate.

The new system will also include electronic health records, which patients can review, and which will give you all the information you need to start working earlier in the process. We will also use M-health technology, which consists of mobile applications and wearable gadgets that track health data for analysis and monitoring, a very useful tool if you want to monitor progress and an amazing way to stay updated on the patients’ health at any given time. For all of the reasons listed above, we are looking forward to creating a better and more efficient work environment that will allow us to take health care to new heights going forward.
