Question
What is your position on the annual performance review - past its “sell by” date, or just in need of some modest revisions? Even if real-time reviews are available using software like Salesforce Rypple, is there a need for a good annual performance review? In other words, does the annual review offer something that real-time review can’t? What is your position on the annual performance review - past its “sell by” date, or just in need of some modest revisions? Even if real-time reviews are available using software like Salesforce Rypple, is there a need for a good annual performance review? In other words, does the annual review offer something that real-time review can’t?Explanation / Answer
Though real-time reviews are more practically applicable and result oriented and used commonly by organizations to evaluate the periodical performance of their employees still annual performance review has its own benefits which cannot be fulfilled by real-time reviews. Annual reviews give the picture of the overall performance of the employees based on the standards of the company. The annual appraisal forms determine the raise the employee deserves to get in the following year based on his performance in the previous year. Such reviews show a clear picture of the standards on which the employees in the organization work and new employees can be hired based on it.
Though real-time reviews give effective results they can sometimes be too informal and unorganized. They can be a hindrance to the regularity of the workflow. Providing employees with their annual performance review reports will help them to understand their flaws for improvment. It works as a motivation for them to work better and get their reviews raised. It helps them in an overall professional and personal enhancement.
